HIGH SCHOOL
High School Credit Courses

High school credit courses are governed by specific rules.  Students currently enrolled in high school must obtain appropriate permission and a list of necessary courses from their home school prior to registering.  Prospective high school credit students should review graduation requirements and policies.

High school graduation requirements:
  • A total of 24 credits
  • A grade point average of 2.00 or higher
  • A Passing score on the High School Competency Test (HSCT) or FCAT

Textbooks are available for purchase at the school's bookstore.  All students are required to obtain and bring to class a personal copy of all appropriate textbooks and materials necessary for each course by the second official class meeting.  Repeated failure to comply with the textbook and materials policy is sufficient grounds for withdrawal.

GED Preparation

Adult Basic Education (ABE) courses are designed for students who score below the 9th grade basic skill level on the T.A.B.E. (Test of Adult Basic Education) and who want to improve their basic skills.  Adults who need to elevate their level of literacy skills and enhance their work opportunities would benefit most from these courses.  These include the General Educational Development (GED) course and courses designed to serve the general education needs of adults.  Specific courses are offered in reading , language, and math in four levels of proficiency.

The GED test allows adults, 18 years and older, who are not enrolled in public school to earn a high school diploma.  Upon successful completion of the GED test, a candidate is awarded a State of Florida High School Diploma and is considered a high school graduate.  The school district does not award any additional diploma to the successful candidate.  The test is comprised of five subtests in the following areas: writing skills, social studies, science, interpreting literature and the arts, and mathematics.  A minimum score of 40 on each subtest and a total score of 225 is required to earn the State of Florida High School Diploma.
