Adult
basic education courses are designed for students who score below the 9th grade
basic skill level on the T.A.B.E. (Test of Adult Basic
Education) and want to improve their basic skills. Adults who need to
elevate their level of literacy skills and enhance their work Opportunities
would benefit most from these courses.

These
include review courses in preparation for taking the general educational
development (GED) test course and study courses designed to serve the general
education needs of adults. Specific courses are offered in
Reading
, Language, and Math in four levels of proficiency.

General
Educational Development (GED) The GED test allows adults, 18 years and older,
who are not enrolled in public school to earn a high school diploma. Upon
successful completion of the GED test, a candidate is awarded a State of
Florida High School Diploma
and is considered a high school graduate. The district does not award any
additional diploma to the successful candidate. The test is comprised of five
subtests in the following areas: writing skills, social studies, science,
interpreting literature and the arts, and mathematics. A minimum score of 40 on
each subtest and a total score of 225 is required to earn the State of Florida High School Diploma
